What is a Miniature Zebu?

Originating in South Asia, the Miniature Zebu is one of the world’s oldest naturally occurring breeds of cattle, with roots tracing back thousands of years. Unlike modern crossbred mini-cows, Zebus are a naturally small species rather than a bred-down version of larger cattle. They are recognizable by their small, compact size, erect ears, upright horns, and signature shoulder hump.

Built for the Sunshine State

While famous Scottish Highland cows with their shaggy coats are social media favorites, they are indigenous to cold, temperate climates. Instead of managing the constant battle against Florida’s heat for cold-climate breeds, we prefer letting animals live in an environment where they naturally feel their best.

Zebus evolved in tropical and subtropical environments. Their sleek coats, active sweat glands, and heat-tolerant biology mean they naturally flourish in the sunny Florida weather. Choosing Zebus over cold-weather breeds allows us to uphold our commitment to ethical animal care—ensuring our herd stays comfortable, healthy, and happy year-round.
